ALBERT GOLDTHORPE RUGBY LEAGUE’S FIRST SUPERSTAR
Last week something special occurred the Rugby Football League got something right for once. They inducted the great Albert Goldthorpe into the RL Hall of Fame (it only took them 105 years)
Goldthorpe had a glittering career with Hunslet rugby club making 659 appearance’s and scoring over more than 1,500 points
As we all know but I’ve got to mention it he captained Hunslet to ‘All Four Cups’ glory in 1907-08.
The photo above is of Steve McGrail and his mum (Albert’s great grandson & granddaughter) accepting Ahr Albert’s Hall of Fame medal from another great player Malcolm Reilly OBE.
Hetherington will tell you that the Rhinos are the best
He’ll speak about the treble and of beating all the rest
But if you know your history you know he talks in jest
Cos Hunslet won all Four
Glory Glory Albert Goldthorpe

Led the greatest rugby team in all the land.
