The Hunslet Rugby Foundation have asked the ex Parkside players Association if any of our members would be interested in participating in Leeds leg of the Rugby League Cares Founders walk.

The Founders Walk is visiting the original sites of each of the founding clubs of Rugby League, to celebrate 120 years of our great sport.

The Leeds leg of the walk KO from John Charles Sports Centre, via the site of the old Parkside Ground where the first Hunslet Northern Union home game against Oldham took place on 14th September 1895 across the river to somewhere called Headingley Stadium.

If any ex Parksider want’s to participate in the walk it would be appreciated.

If you are unable to or don’t want to do the walk it would also be appreciated if a few of the ex Parksider players could congregate round the site of the old Parkside ground to welcome the group that are participating in the walk.

The fun (I mean the walk) is on Tuesday 21st July and starts at 9.30am.

Hunslet Rugby Foundation are providing Coffee and bacon sarnies (free of charge) for all ex Parksider players from 9.00am in the Phoenix bar at J.C.S.

They are also providing free transport from the stadium to the old Parkside ground so that we can welcome the walkers and from there on to Headingley if you so wish.

I have been told that when if and when we arrive at Headingley we may even get a smile from Rhinos.

So we don’t run out of bacon could you please give me a call if you will be attending.
