TEAM PHOTOGRAPH AND IN TRUE R.L. SPIRIT WE DRUNK THE PUB DRY.

HARRY JEPSONS 95th Birthday celebration at the Garden Gate public house. In all, 37 ex Parksiders turned out along with a lot more of Harrys friends at the Garden Gate Public House to wish Harry many happy returns most of them are on this image. On the photograph there are two O.B.E’s, Harry and Garry Schofield and one M.B.E. Geoff Gunney. There are one or two of the group that can say that they have had G.B.H. after their names.

Gill Robinson M.B.E. the late Billy Baldwinson sister also attended.

All the lads chipped in to buy Harry a gift and it was presented to him by Ray Abbey. It was a signed, framed photograph of Shanks Watson, Jimmy Brogden, Alf ‘Ginger’ Burnell, Sonny Rushton (sadly Sonny passed away last year) all played for Hunslet and of course Harry who was involved with the club from the early 1920s until 1970 as a spectator then administrator is on the photo. Every one of these gentlemen been nonagenarian’s when the photo was taken.

Margaret Preece sent her apologies and said she really wanted to be there but some how she had misplaced her front dentures and was not going to venture out until she has found them (don’t panic Maggie I know a good dentist).

I asked Stuart Keane make a list of every one that was present so that I could give you all a mention. Stuart forgot to pass it on to me.

On his way home he was taken short and had to use a public toilet. Unfortunately there was no Loo roll so Stu had to make use of the note paper with all our names on. So in other words all our names went down the pan.

We all had a great time and vowed we will be at Harrys 100th birthday party on the

4th February 2020 which by the way is on a Tuesday. Put that in your diary.

HARRY JEPSON ONE GREAT MAN
