Last week John Hodgson a life long Hunslet RL supporter and hard working volunteer for the club passed away following his battle against cancer.
John was very proud of his Hunslet roots especially the Garnets were as a child he lived.
His ambition was to play for Hunslet just like his hero Ginger Burnell.
John attended Gingers 90th birthday party at SLS early this year and was very proud when he was asked to present Ginger with a limited addition Hunslet R.L. tie.
John is pictured above on the far left along side Ginger, Phil (Johns son) and Jimmy Crampton.
We would like to offer all our deepest sympathy and condolences to all of Johns family
Johns funeral takes place on Wednesday 3rd September at Cottingley Hall Crematorium at 13.40. All friends and family are invited to The Whistlestop pub in Beeston after the service.
RIP
Really sad to hear that John had passed away. He was a good friend to me during my time at Hunslet. He helped me greatly when I had my benefit season in 82/83. A really generous and fun person who asked for nothing in return, I will miss you John and I do regret losing touch with you for so long but am pleased that we managed a few good times together in recent times. All the best to his loving family and will see you next week when I am sure John will be given a great send off. Kenny
