It is with deep regret that I have to announce the passing away of Tommy Waite.
Tommy signed for Hunslet around the same time as his great friend Peter Jarvis, he was later transferred and went on to play with distinction for Bramley R.L.F.C.
He played in the front row with Dave Horne.
Tommy had been bravely battling with cancer for quite some time. He was a very religious person and a devout Catholic.
We send our deepest sympathy to his wife Margaret and family.
We will announce his funeral arraignments later.
May He Rest In Peace.
My dad was his uncle and despite being distanced from Tommy was forever mentioning the Gentle giant ,Ben Waite’s son in East Kilbride (Stephen),thinking of all his family

My dad’s rugby days were amongst the happiest in his life and he remembered his friends and teammates frequently and with great affection. You are all invited to help celebrate his life. We have not made firm arrangements yet, but the funeral is likely to be on Friday 7th June at St. Theresa’s Church, Cross Gates, followed by a reception at Oulton Hall Hotel. I will post the exact details here as soon as I have them. Please tell everyone who would want to know.
How sad to hear of Tommy Waite s Passing . I played along side Tommy in many a game with Hunslet. Allways happy and played with a smile on his face. We where paired up in the second row for many a match. Giving 100% every game .God rest Tommy
