John was buried this last Thursday at Hunslet Cemetary, his coffin was laid to rest with four of his team mates from Hunslet Parkside carrying him to his grave.

They were Dave Mawson, Jimmy Crampton, Tommy Taylor and Billy Adams, the other Hunslet players showing their respect were Kenny Sykes, George Clarke, Phil Horrocks, Happy Appleyard, Ray Abbey and Peter Jarvis.

Representing Hunslet Hawks was Pat Benatmane who was wearing a Hunslet scarfe out of respect.

Jimmy Crampton gave an impromptu eulogy.

What more could a man want! To be Born, Live, Die and be Buried in Hunslet, surrounded by his family and friends?

I am sure he will rest in piece.
