It’s been a very busy weekend for The Hunslet Parkside Players as Sunday was the 40th anniversary of the the Last Game at Parkside due to prior commitments I could not attend, but here are two reports the first one is from our Editor – in – Chief

Keith Rowson Has now agreed to become Hunslet Parkides official ARCHIVIST Thanks Keith for joining the team- this is a very important position.

Hunslet Hawks v York Knights Sunday 28 April 2013 – 40th Anniversary of
last game played at our sacred ground Parkside. Most of the ex York Players
turned up for the occasion along with the following Hunslet players from the
last game:-

Geoff Gunney; Alan Griffiths; Kenny Sykes; Phil Sanderson; Ronnie
Dobson; Georgie Clarke;

Tommy Taylor; Billy Adams; Peter Rycroft; Phil Horrocks;

After a carvery dinner and drinks they were introduced to the crowd at half
time on the pitch. Hunslet Hawks won the match 26-12. The 1973 Hunslet team
were supported by a number of ex Parkside Players as follows:-

Gordon Tindall; Dennis Tate; Ray Abbey; Peter Jarvis; Happy Appleyard;
Alan Bankcroft; Keith Rowson;

Frank Nicholls; Brian Culley; Frank Watson; Jimmy Crampton; Dave

“After the man of the match presentation in the Hawks bar a rendition of ‘We
swept the seas before boys’ was sung by players and supporters. A GOOD DAY WAS
HAD BY ALL!!!! “
